Your chair should also have arm rests, which again should be adjustable so that you can have them in the most comfortable position for you. If you can, go and sit in as many different sorts of chair as you can so that you can choose the one that is ideal for you.

Cupboards, bookcases, cabinets and other units should be finished to a high standard and everything should be balanced, level and look strong. Nothing should wobble or lean, it should be balanced enough to stand alone and withstand many years of use.

The pieces of furniture you choose should be robust and aesthetically pleasing.

You will want your office to look professional but also comfortable so that it is inviting for staff and visitors alike. If you are choosing wooden furniture, make sure the wood comes from a sustainable source and that it is properly finished and well put together.

It should have a fine silky feel to it, with no rough edges or uneven surfaces. By choosing good quality furniture, you will have an office that will last for many years, so take your time.
