2 Simple Design Rules to Creating an Attractive Kitchen
So you now have all your cupboards and cabinets clean and organized. If you are applying our guidelines you have plenty of space in those cupboards to know what you need and where it is when you need it. Good job!
Finally, we need to talk counter tops. The truth is - your countertop reveals the state of the rest of your kitchen, which means a cluttered countertop usually indicates clutter resides in those cabinets (or lots of busy kids!).
Finish with these Design Rules
Design rule number 1 - Do not use your counter top as a storage area! Keep only small appliances on the counter top that you use EVERYDAY. Everything else needs to be brought out on an as used basis. By maintaining a clutter free counter top it will make your kitchen feel cleaner, bigger and more visually appealing.
Design rule number 2 - Limit all counter top accessories to a total of 5 to 7 items including small appliances, plants, wine racks cookie jars etc.
